Don’t Miss Out on the 2023 RHBC Winter Beer Share

First started in 2018, the RHBC Winter Beer Share has become popular amongst beer enthusiasts in the Eastern Cape.

Niall Cook, Master Brewer at Richmond Hill Brewing Company (RHBC), says, “RHBC is a big supporter of home brewers in the Eastern Cape and has often worked with brewing enthusiasts in the past. In fact we collaborated with the Yestern Cape Brew Club to produce the delicious Unanimous Hoppy Red Lager sold from our taproom.”

This year’s event will be held at RHBC on Saturday 22 July at 5pm. There will be eight to ten beers shared, all from Eastern Cape brewing enthusiasts .

The event has grown in popularity over the years with just over a hundred people attending last year’s Winter Beer Share.

South Africa has seen an ever increasing number of micro or boutique brewing companies and in almost every case, these companies are started by home brewers.  These malt, hop and yeast enthusiasts produce excellent lagers and ales in small batches and it is a privilege to have the opportunity to sample them.

“Come and hear from the brewers themselves as to how they came about these moreish beers. Expect to see spiced beers, rich stouts, strong Belgian and Scottish ales, beers that warm the soul,” says Niall.

Apart from the beers, the R160 entrance fee will also get you a burger and a desert!  RHBC’s burger shed serves some pretty tasty burgers and you have a choice of the Korean Fried Chicken, Classic Beef (with or without cheese), Cream Cheese and Jalapeno, Peri Peri Chicken and Pineapple, Vegan Cauliflower, Vegan Mushroom or the Blueberry and Camembert burgers.  The dessert is Mom’s Chocolate Slab Cake with Fresh Cream.

Niall adds, “Join us for a night filled with good beer and warm hearty food.”
