Wawu Pineapple Hard Seltzer

Wawu Pineapple Hard Seltzer has low calories and tastes great

A seltzer is water that has been carbonated and, as the term suggests, a hard seltzer is also contains some alcohol.  Hard Seltzers are becoming increasingly popular because they offer an alcoholic beverage with low calories.

The ever innovative Richmond Hill Brewing Company (RHBC) in Gqeberha has just launched their Wawu Pineapple Hard Seltzer.

Niall Cook from RHBC, where the Wawu Pineapple Hard Seltzer is produced and packaged, says, “Our Seltzer is designed to have low calories, be refreshing and easy to drink.  We have made the pineapple flavor understated so that more than one seltzer may be enjoyed on a hot, lazy summer day without the taste being over powering.”

Wawu is the RHBC brand for their excellent tonics – both Indian and Butterfly Pea Flower.  Read more about the tonics here.  Thus before launching their hard seltzer, RHBC have had a successful experience with carbonated drinks.

What’s in a the Wawu Pineapple Hard Seltzer

A primary aim of a producer of hard seltzers is to ensure that their beverage has low calories.  They also want the beverage to taste good and this usually means that some form of sweetener is added.

Some producers replace sucrose with an artificial sweetener such as stevia and, to be honest, these are not kind to the palate

I am very pleased to say that the Wawu Pineapple Hard Seltzer has a very taste thanks to the small amount of sugar rather than sweetener.  RHBC has a great recipe and, to my taste buds, have achieved all that Niall has wanted.

The fact that the alcohol content is only 4% also adds to its attractiveness, particularly if you want to have a refreshing beverage in your hand through a long afternoon of sport, braaiing or poolside fun.

The Perfect Pour

Niall adds that their 330ml hard seltzer served in a pint glass full of ice with a sprig of mint (slapped to release the aroma) and two slices of pineapple is their perfect pour!

You can purchase your Wawu Pineapple Hard Seltzer from the RHC taproom which is found off Alabaster Street, Baakens Valley, Gqeberha or you can order online by clicking here.
