South African Terroir with French Savoir faire – Marianne Wine Estate

Marianne Wine Estate, Stellenbosch, Western Cape

With a French heritage and a touch of a South African vibe, it’s no wonder Marianne Wine Estate is one of the most renowned wineries in South Africa. Situated at the foot of Simonsberg Mountain, where wine farms are in endless supply, Marianne Wine Estate has been producing premium wines for the past 15 years.

The wine estate was established in 2004 by Christian Dauriac, who has been making wine in Bordeaux for more than 30 years. The estate was named ‘Marianne’ as homage to the French heritage of the property.

Taste elaborate, handcrafted wines at Marianne Wine Estate

On Marianne Wine Estate you will find not one, but two state-of-the-art boutique wineries, each one equipped to craft excellent fine wine. The vines average about 17 years of age and the staff and managers of the farm are a close team who have been working together for the past year.

The quality of their terroir is so refined that many wine aficionados have called them the ‘Golden Mile’ of Stellenbosch. There is a firm belief at Marianne Wine Estate that the secret to a great wine, lies in the vineyard and the landscape that surrounds it, so they make sure to utilise natural, minimal intervention winemaking.

Their red wines are crafted in the Marianne Cellar while their white wines and rosé are crafted separately in the petit boutique L’Ermitage cellar.
