An award-winning craft distillery based in Cape Town, Deep South Distillery aims to make the world a better place, one sip at a time. Thirsty Traveller has had the pleasure of sampling some of their award-winning gins for our Gin Tasting evening, which you can read about here.
The Cape Dry Gin created by Deep South Distillery is one of the best London style gins we, at Thirsty Traveller, have ever tasted. With a bright pine aroma and lemon scents underscored by soft herbaceous fynbos and a surprising hint of sweet spice, the palate displays the full juniper spectrum.
For our annual Heritage Day Spirit Tasting Evening, we had the chance to sample their latest creation; the Chilli Vodka.
Deep South Distillery Chilli Vodka
Certainly, one of the more unusual drinks we have sampled over the years, the Deep South Chilli Vodka drink is something you will need time to experiment with in order to fully appreciate the full flavour.
“You have to be a chilli lover to enjoy this Vodka. The chilli is HOT and adds a wonderful flavour to the Vodka. I would like to take more time to experiment with this vodka and think that mixing it with a chocolate sauce over ice cream would be amazing,” said Graeme from Thirsty Traveller.
According to their website, the Chilli Vodka is spectacular in a Bloody Mary as it gives the tomato cocktail a wonderfully soft, spicy heat so you don’t need to add the usual variety of spices. You can buy the dink online by clicking here.
