The 2024 Richmond Hill Brewing Company (RHBC) Home Brew Fest is scheduled for 16 March and, according to the organizers, will have plenty to offer.
This is the Eastern Cape’s premier home brewing event and brewers from far and wide participate.
Gerhard Gildenhuys, one of the event organisers and a home brewer himself, says they have over 20 participants each with two or more beers. Over 800l of beer will be available for tasting!
There will also be various live bands during the course of the afternoon and of course plenty of food.
Tickets may be bought online by clicking here and each ticket comes with a glass (optional), a wrist band and two washers.
The event is open to all but only those with wrist bands may sample the brews. Gerhard says that families and partners not interested in tasting but who want to enjoy the music and food are welcome too.
Each home brewer will have their own stand and these will be in Chicky’s Yard and the other locations around RHBC’s tap room.
All the beers will be sampled by a panel of judges and the top three will be announced at the prize giving in the evening. There is also a People’s Choice award and this is where the two washers come into play. A jar will be placed before each beer on offer and ticket holders are encouraged to place their washers in the jars of the two beers they enjoyed most.
The entrance fee is R150.00 without a Home Brew Fest branded glass or R200 with the glass.
So come join RHBC and the home brewers for a day filled with food, music, and obviously great beer! Once you are in drink as much beer as you like!
Doors open at 12pm and tickets may be purchased at the door for R190 excluding the glass.
