The Duchess’ alcohol free G&Ts are refreshing and crisp

There are few things better than a crisp and refreshing gin and tonic on a hot day.  The problem is that they can only be legally enjoyed in a licensed venue or at home.

Drinking on a sunny beach or while you’re driving through a sweltering game reserve are not allowed. So too is drinking more than one G&T when you know that you are going to be driving in the next hour or two.

There are times of the year, December in particular, where you find yourself over indulging and once New Year’s Eve is over, tea totaling is just what your body needs.  Peer pressure at your next braai or cocktail party may be so unpleasant that you find yourself breaking your newly pledged resolution.

However, all is not lost thanks to The Duchess Alcohol Free G&Ts.

These Cape Town produced beverages are delicious and just as refreshing as the normal G&T but without  their kick.

Tasting The Duchess Botanical and The Duchess Floral

I recently took a four pack of The Duchess Floral and of The Duchess Botanical to house party.  My girlfriend and I were intent on having an alcohol free evening as we both had to be up early next morning.

As we had not sampled The Duchess products before we gave each sip a lot of attention and discussion and our friends, over hearing our chat, asked for a tasting too.  The comments were all favorable and thanks to the crisp, slightly bitter taste, our palates, during the course of the evening, were not overwhelmed with sweetness and the fourth can was just as refreshing as the first.

Founded in 2016 by Cape Town natives Johannes Le Roux and Inus Smuts with one goal: to provide a healthy and delicious experiences in the form of innovative, alcohol-free beverages.

To quote their website, “Whether you are choosing alcohol-free for better sleep, greater focus, deeper connections, or simply looking for a refreshing ‘in-between’ drink that leaves you waking up bright-eyed and bushy tailed, The Duchess provides an award-winning range of options to sip on a night off the booze.”

The Duchess Botanical is crafted with aromatic botanicals, orange peel and a highly refreshing tonic while the The Duchess Floral is crafted with juniper and fragrant floral extracts.

Not only are these drinks refreshing and a great substitute for their alcoholic name sakes but they are also very healthy with low calories and sugar and they are gluten free.

The Duchess now has a prominent position in by fridge and is a great option for when I want an alcohol free outing or celebration.

We have so enjoyed the flavour of The Duchess drinks that we have even taken to adding a tot of London Dry Gin when we want a really good traditional G&T.

Reasonably priced and readily available online, you can order The Duchess by clicking here.
