Gin, that erstwhile colonial drink that was claimed to frighten away mosquitos and heal malaria, is making a fashionable comeback worldwide.
South Africa currently has over 30 micro or boutique distilleries with more opening every month. If you’re part of the gin revival, and considering the amazing quality and diversity of the gins being produced, then my advice is to visit the Yellow Door.
They have one of the widest selections of gin available. Bocadillos on 1st, located at 1st Avenue, in Walmer, Port Elizabeth, opened this wine, gin and tapas bar called the Yellow Door, in 2017.

Bocadillos has always been well-known for its diverse menu and excellent food. At the Yellow Door, you can expect the same high quality in their tapas menu. I particularly enjoy the charcuterie board and the lamb shank spring rolls.
This Yellow Door was designed from the outset to offer a sophisticated venue for intimate gatherings. Seating 24 guests, excluding the bar, and up to 45 for cocktail functions (including the outside section), Yellow Door has its own veranda and access separate from Bocadillos restaurant.
The contemporary décor, careful, yet diverse selection of spirits and wines and excellent tapas make this a very pleasant place to celebrate an event, build your team or simply socialise with your friends.
