I recently had the opportunity to visit Life is Grape in Walmer, Port Elizabeth. I was highly impressed with what this establishment has to offer. A hidden gem!
Having heard a lot of good things about this wine store, I was eager to see the range and selection of wines that they have on offer. I quickly noticed that I had never heard of most of their suppliers. This definitely intrigued me!

Life is Grape has a great selection of wines and most of their stock is found almost exclusively in their store. This is due to the store owner, Benedetta Schafer, maintaining good relations with a number of amazing wineries throughout the country.
As a result, most of their products are sourced from exclusive wine farms in the Western Cape.
Benedetta makes great recommendations to first time customers as well as her regulars. She was able to recommend wines I should try based on my preferences. Each of her products has their own story and she was delighted to share them. . Her accommodating nature and abundance of knowledge left me very impressed!
Life is Grape is truly the ideal shop to buy gifts for loved ones. Besides their wine offerings, this establishment also sells chocolates as well as individually-designed wrapping and labelling.
Wine Tasting and Events at Life is Grape
Life is Grape also offers wine tastings to the public. Life is Grape offers evening wine tastings twice a month. Their evening tastings are generally hosted by a singular winery.
Day Time Wine tastings on every last Saturday of the month is of their own stock, with the incentive of allowing visitors to make an educated decision before purchasing a bottle.
For true wine lovers, this establishment also hosts Corporate and Private Events.
Example intimate celebrations such as birthday parties, bachelorette parties, team building and year-end functions. Keep your eyes open for wine training in 2020 that would be on offer to corporate companies.
