As South Africans continue to feel the pinch of rising living costs, one thing hasn’t changed: our love of a good glass of brandy. And according to Nuy Winery, quality doesn’t have to come with an eye-watering price tag.
The latest addition to Nuy’s popular Inspiration range is a 3-Year Barrel-Selected Brandy, created for everyday brandy drinkers who still expect quality in every glass.
Nestled at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains between Worcester and Robertson, Nuy Winery has been part of South Africa’s wine landscape for more than 60 years, earning a reputation for quality, variety and innovation. Alongside its award-winning wines, gin and premium Copper Potstilled Brandy, Nuy now adds a 3-Year Barrel-Selected Brandy to its portfolio.
According to Marketing Manager AC Goodger, the thinking behind the new release was simple.
“We wanted to offer our customers a quality brandy at a fair price. Quality has always been our starting point.”
With 12 grape-producing members, Nuy produces more than 14 million litres of wine and grape juice each year. Less than 1% is bottled under the Nuy label – the very cream of the crop, crafted by cellarmaster Christo Basson, senior winemaker Paul Burger and their team into the products that proudly carry the Nuy name.
The new brandy was blended by the winemaking team together with a group of dedicated brandy masters – and, perhaps more importantly, brandy drinkers. The result is a brandy that’s just as at home around the braai as it is served over ice.
Basson describes the brandy as fruity and refreshing, with hints of caramel and spices. “Delicious on ice or as a South African party favourite; Brandy and Coke.”
The bottle features Nuy’s distinctive “suikerbekkie” (sunbird) in gold on the label – a tribute to the harmony between winemaking and nature.
How to enjoy it
Serve it over ice, with Coke or ginger ale, or simply enjoy it with friends around the braai. Its fruity character, subtle caramel notes and spice make it wonderfully versatile.
