The Silver accolade adds an international quality endorsement to one of South Africa’s most well-known whisky brands.
South African whisky brand Firstwatch Whisky has earned a Silver medal in the Blended category at The Spirits Business World Whisky Masters 2026, adding another international accolade to one of Edward Snell & Co.’s largest brands.
The award follows Firstwatch Whisky’s gold medal at the competition in 2022.
Shaun Appel, Senior Brand Manager – Brown Spirits portfolio at Edward Snell & Co., says this independent endorsement affirms the quality expected in every bottle, as well as the value it is known for.
“Firstwatch has built a loyal following by consistently delivering a rewarding whisky experience at an accessible price,” says Appel. “Being recognised internationally once again shows that quality and value can sit comfortably in the same glass.”
The World Whisky Masters is part of The Spirits Business’ Global Spirits Masters Competitions, which assess spirits across specialist categories through independent blind judging by industry experts.
Firstwatch is an imported blend of rye and cereal grain whiskies, with its base whisky matured for at least three years. It offers floral aromas and sweet fruit notes, complemented by the rich, wooded character of rye.
It can be enjoyed on the rocks or mixed with a favourite mixer, making it a versatile choice for relaxed social occasions.
“Whisky drinkers are looking more closely at what they are getting for their money,” Appel adds. “This award gives consumers an independent measure of assurance and another reason to consider Firstwatch on the strength of the whisky itself.”
It is available nationally at all major retail outlets, at a recommended retail price of R209,99.
