Established in 2005 Qualito Craft Distillery is a small batch craft distillery, located in Phalaborwa.
Here a great variety of gins, vodkas, whiskies and vodka fusions are created by Master distillers, Pierre and Loumarie Raubenheimer, and assistant distiller, Mary Noboza.
Their spirits are meticulously coaxed by hand from grain to glass, and this small batch distillery is elevating standards of distillation not just in South Africa, but around the world.
Qualito Craft Distillery’s products are inspired and named after quintessential African experiences and the fauna and flora of the area.
Their best new South African whisky is their single barrel Limpopo Reserve Whisky. The distinct quality of this single grain whisky, fermented and aged in oak barrels, is a nose of musk, caramel and fruit cake.
Their zero alcohol Saint Gin combines herbal notes and botanical aromatics and juniper, is handmade in small batches and contains no artificial sweeteners, colours, flavours, calories or alcohol.
A great product for summer is their alcohol slush, which comes in blueberry, litchi and cranberry.
Tasting Tours at Qualito Craft Distillery
The distillery tours are not only reserved for whisky experts and gin pro’s but also for novices.
Tasting tours are available from Monday to Friday from 9 to 4pm, or by appointment on Saturdays.
The duration of the tour is 1 to 1½ hours and visitors will have the opportunity to see the whole process, meet the distillers, learn about the different products and techniques, and more importantly, to taste the results.
Visitors can also learn about pairing these unique spirits with a range of different food flavours, such as salmon, pork crackling, chocolate and nuts.
