Based in the heart of Diep River in Cape Town, The Jack Black Brewing Company is dedicated to brewing beers. Their state-of-the-art craft brewery focuses on creating new and innovative flavours while still staying true to traditional hand-crafted methods of brewing.
This family-owned brewery was established in 2007 by Ross and Meghan McCulloch, who wanted to change the craft beer landscape in Cape Town.
Since opening their doors, Jack Black Brewing Company has grown to become one of South Africa’s most popular craft breweries.
The Jack Black range of brews was sampled at our 2019 Annual Heritage Day Beer Tasting and received a number of compliments.

Currently, Jack Black Brewing Company has seven unique beers available, from a variety of ales to their lager and pilsner; there is plenty to try at their brewery.
Brewers Lager
The flagship beer of Jack Black Brewing Company, the Brewers Lager is their pre-prohibition-style lager that was inspired by all the malt beers of the 1900s. This lager has a crisp and refreshing taste with its great balance of hop bitterness and malt sweetness.
Atlantic Weiss
Medium bodied and extremely refreshing, the Atlantic Weiss is as fresh as the breeze of the Atlantic Ocean. It has a thick and creamy head, and thanks to its unfiltered nature you can enjoy some rich and soft fruit aromas.
Cape Pale Ale
A thirst-quencher of note, the Cape Pale Ale (CPA) has been brewed in a way to highlight Western Cape ingredients. The ale has a golden colour with generous granadilla aromas which is accentuated by loads of dry hopping. Cape pale Ale has a medium body with a refreshing red berry taste and a zesty citrus finish.
Keller Pills
In Germany, cellars are known as ‘Kellers’, which is directly where the Keller Pilsner comes from. With serious depth of character, this beer still manages to hold true to the classic beer style. The white foam head and tight bubbled mousse give away to smooth, unfiltered goodness.
Butcher Block
This is Jack Black’s own award winning Pale Ale. Butcher Block is smooth in body, distinctive flavour profile and fresh taste. With its unique characteristics balanced with the rich malt complexity and bitterness, you can enjoy a refreshing taste that lingers till the end.
Lumberjack
The Amber Ale brew, Lumberjack is another award winning beer that is outstanding to savour with richer-styled foods. It has a complex malt character that is driven by loads of dark roasted crystal malt with mountains of hops used to keep it balanced.
Skelton Coast
Named after the treacherous coastline that contours Southwest Africa, Skeleton Coast is an Indiana Pale Ale with a full malt flavour and extreme hop character. Dry hoping highlights powerful citrus, floral and earthy aromas.
