The award winning Brewhogs Micro Brewery is located off Dytchley Road in Kyalami and are famous for their range of brews to suite all tastes.
Their extensive range of beers includes a Blonde, an IPA, a Pilsner, a Red Lager, a Ginger Beer, and a Platinum Lager and they also have a range of seasonal brews that include a Black IPA, a Heritage Lager, Santa’s Brew, Jozi Red, and Jozi Gold.
Importantly, all the Brewhogs products, except for their Ginger Beer, are made from hops, malt, water and yeast with no added flavourings resulting in pure, crisp, easy drinking, and moderately carbonated beers.
I am a big fan of the Brewhogs brews with a particular affinity to the No.1 Premium Pilsner.
Awards
Last year, 2024, was a great year for Brewhogs as the won numerous awards. This is largely thanks to Michael Biljon, the brewer, who joined the Brewhogs team in March 2020.
Michael has over 15 years of brewing and production management experience and he holds a brewing diploma from the Institute of Brewing and Distilling. Brewhogs walked away with trophies at two of South Africa’s premier awards, The African Beer Cup and the South African National Beer Trophy.
At the African Beer Cup the Blonde was awarded Gold and the Platinum Light Lager won Bronze.
Michael says, “At this event the beers are judged on their individual merit according to the standardised Beer Judging Certification Program (BJCP) metrics. Though we scored a bronze, no other beer scored higher than bronze. So, you could say that we were “best in category” for this award.”
The Blonde and the Platinum Light Lager were both awarded a Gold at the South African National Beer Trophy.

Contract Brewing Services
Michael also says, “We offer contract brewing to interested parties who would like to get into the industry. From concept to keg, Brewhogs is your brewing partner!”
